Q. Why Borderland outfitters?
A. Borderland Outfitters is the result of years of hunting and outfitter experience. We provide access to some of the best hunting habitat for mule deer, elk, cougar, bear, turkey, barbary and bighorn sheep, oryx and javelina for archery, muzzle and rifle hunters. As a licensed New Mexico outfitter, we have proven to meet or exceed the very specific qualifications as set forth in New Mexico law.
Q. Do I need a hunting license?
A. Yes. All big-game, small-game or turkey hunters must possess a New Mexico Game Hunting License or Game Hunting & Fishing License and permit if applicable, for the species and hunt type in which she/he will participate. All hunters, trappers or anglers must also possess Habitat Management & Access Validation (* except as defined under Stamps & Validations (click tab above or see the Hunting Rules & Info Guide page 8). Additionally, all hunters, trappers or anglers on any Forest Service or Bureau of Land Management lands must possess a Habitat Stamp*.
Q. How can I get licensed?
A. Licenses, stamps and validations are available online: www.wildlife.state.nm.us, by telephone: 1-888-248-6866, at NMDGF offices and over-the-counter (OTC) from local vendors. Information and requirements for the Habitat Stamp and Habitat Management & Access Validation are described on page 8. Please note: Before April 1, game hunting licenses and stamps for the 2017–2018 season may be purchased only through the draw application process.
Q. Do you offer military discounts?
A. All New Mexico residents who are active duty military or veterans qualify for a 50% discount on all licenses, permits and stamps. The NMDGF online license application system will ask all applicants and/or customers 17 and older if they qualify and wish to claim this discount. Once the discount is claimed by a resident veteran, there is no need to reclaim, but active duty military personnel will be required to reclaim the discount each year. Customers claiming this discount must certify that they can provide valid proof of active duty or veteran status upon request. Call NMDGF at 888-248-6866 with questions.
Q. What is the hunter responsible for?
A. The hunter is responsible for his/her weapon (rifle, archery, or muzzleloader), ammunition and personal belongings. The hunter is also solely responsible for his/her physical health.
Q. Does borderland outfitters provide taxidermy services?
A. Borderland Outfitters does not provide taxidermy services. However, we have a long working relationship with with and recommend Archery Hut/Borderland Taxidermy in Las Cruces for these services.
